Making money online, one dollar a day

About

So, I should probably start of by telling you a little bit about my history…

2003-2004ish

I first dipped my toes into “niche marketing” by accident in around 2003 when I was a struggling ”web designer”. Through some work I was doing I realised there was a big demand for help with a piece of free PHP software called osCommerce. I set up and ran a site selling templates for the osCommerce software. I was one of the first into this market and the site made a nice amount of money. At the same time, I ran sites selling programming and help services for the same software and also did some hosting, again, specialising in hosting this software.

Now, at this point, I hadn’t even heard of the term “niche marketing” but, looking back, this still has to be probably the most successful niche I have been involved in to date.

Fast forward a year or so, and I got a job in the “real world” (at the company I still work at today). This meant less time to do the online, osCommerce as a project wasn’t really going anywhere and the template market place had become flooded so I sold all my osCommerce related niche sites but kept my hobby sites.

Oct 2005 - mid 2007ish

Fast forward about another 9 months or a year (we’re up to about October 2005 now, keep up!) and I stumbled across a guy you may have heard of called Burt in the DDN Cafe forums talking about AIS (automated income streams).

After looking into it a bit more, my first foray into ”internet marketing” was when I decided to set myself a challenge to build 100 sites, each earning $1 a day (hence the blog title!). I didn’t quite achieve this, but I “took action” and did make some money. you can still read my old blog tracking the progress of that challenge.

For the next year and a half or so, I made some nice extra cash building sites for AdSense and promoting affiliate products with over 150 sites at one point and this blog was where I reported on what I was doing (hello to any old readers!).

Current Day!

For the last year or so, I have really reigned in my online activities to concentrate on life away from work and the internet and I am now back down to around 10 of my hobby sites (which still make me some extra spending money each month). I still have my day job, so this is extra income for me to spend on treats and holidays!

Why Am I Back?

Well, I’m about to buy a flat and the extra outgoings mean I could do with a bit extra each month to spend on those luxuries.
